another point is that when Jesus wrote on the ground with his "finger," it was a reference to him being God, just as God wrote the law and commandments with his finger. the law states that both the adulterer and the adulteress (the man and the woman) should be brought forward for judgment. however, since the pharisees only brought the woman, jesus wrote on the ground, as if to say, "Don't you know the law that I wrote with My own finger? How dare you try to test Me with the law I Myself created?"

My first thought about Jesus writing on the ground with His finger is the finger who wrote the Ten Commandments on the 2 tablets of stones.

The problem is that He wasn’t writing in the dust. He was writing on stone. How do I know this and why does it matter? First, if you read the story carefully it tells us we’re this took place. It happened in the Temple, in the outer courts. That entire area was paved with stone not dirt. I doubt the Jews would have allowed enough dust to accumulate to write anything legible. Second, I think this act was a reference to Exodus 31:18 since this was a question about one of the 10 Commandments. Since Jesus wrote the Law the act of His writing on stone could be interpreted as a claim to divinity. His statement about throwing the first stone was a reminder to those legal experts to Deuteronomy 22:22 which requires the man to be stoned as well not just the woman. Since she was “caught in the act” the man was released. We’re also told that it was the older scholars dropping their stones first. This was probably because they had the most thorough knowledge of the Law and recognized that they had failed to trap Jesus with a legal question.

He could have written two things first why not 7, the seventh commandment - which is “ Thou shall not commit adultery” using ז' or for example na”aph which was frequently used in the Torah…. They saw it… (he knew that they would be curious 😁) turned around and walked away, perhaps because they were not without sin.. Jesus was / is smart and funny among other things.👊🙏❤️
